Well I am now 13 weeks along, and I am looking forward to the end of the first trimester, which is officially after the 14th week. So confusing, I know. I am still learning. Anyway, this morning I was hit with some morning sickness and I decided to stay home for the morning. I am going to head into work in a few minutes, and thankfully I am feeling a bit better now.
Yesterday I went into Burlington Coat Factory to check out their "Baby Depot." WOW do they have a lot of stuff in there! It was fun to look through everything, but it was also overwhelming. I haven't the slightest clue what I'm going to need, other than a crib, changing table, and some clothes... Ok, I'm exaggerating a bit, but I definitely need some help on figuring out what the essentials are. I am thinking we will register at the Baby Depot and at Target, since they both have a lot of great stuff. Although, I am a little frustrated that practically everything is made in China. I don't want lead going into my little baby's mouth!
Well anyway, I still don't look very pregnant, although I want to start taking photos because I want to compare the various stages. I guess I'll sign off for now. Nothing else very exciting to report here, but feel free to post comments on what some of the "essentials" for having a newborn.

The very first time Kev and I went into Baby Depot to register, he was so completely overwhelmed that we just left the store and registered for NOTHING! I took Wendy Smith with me another day - without Kev - and she pointed out some essentials and things that she really liked - ex. the Avent brand of bottles over the thousands of others, and then Kev and I went back together another time. I found that to be really helpful.
I am a minimalist - probably to the extreme -, so I probably would not be the one to take with you! If you've got diapers, a few onesies and outfits, some blankies, and place for them to sleep - you're golden! Just kidding....kind of.
Some of my fave things were/are: a monitor - there's a kazillion to choose from. Pick one that has a really great range, so you can go outside to garden. I also loved my Jeep snugli, a wedge pillow to lay them on in bed to keep them from moving, a pack 'n' play for traveling - and CAMPING, WHOO-HOO!, hmmm, I also really loved my Moses Basket - that's what I have them sleep in for the first few weeks and then I use the basket for toys and books, and my Medela Pump in Style Pump. Oh! And a jogger stroller - I've got an awesome one that I can tell you about if you don't have one. It's a single jogger that converts to a double. It rocks, and I use it almost every single day. We also have a backpack that we love for when we go on day trips.
Wow - this was really long. Sorry for the rambles. Those are my fave "necessities," though. If I think of more, I'll let you know.
Much love to you!
YAY, exciting! :) Hope things keep going well!
Oh! I also loved my really low to the ground baby swing. Really great for when one needs to shower! Kaden loved it and took many a nap there. Jesse learned to tolerate it. :0)
Ahem. Cough cough. It's me again. I would also recommend a diaper bag/backpack that you really love. It'll be permanently attached to you for many a month. I think I went through four or five until I found one that I love. I have an orange and black backpack. All of the froofy motherly ones just looked weird on me. I couldn't seem to pull them off. Or you could just go with an oversized purse bag. I've done that quite often too. Old Navy has awesome chunky bags. But you could pull off a lot more than I can! Okay. I'm done. No more. Kaput. That's all folks.
A really good babysitter :o)
